Our Daily Routines

We have a daily routine that is based around the village of Brixworth. We visit the local toddler groups and go on outings to Brixworth Country Park. We visit the shops as well as use the local Library and parks.

There really is not a typical day as a Childminder, as every day is different and every child! Being in a home environment means we are lucky enough not to have to be ruled by routine but it is a good idea to have a basis to work from. To give some kind of guide to parents I have tried to detail the kind of routine I adapt to each day.

2.00pm - Children arrive for the afternoon

2.15pm – Afternoon activities – Variety of toys, role-play and imaginative play experiences. I plan activities around the children’s ages and stages of development and their personal interests. We get outside in the fresh air whenever we can and in all weathers!

3.15pm – School run – Discuss road safety and stranger danger.

Once a week we go to the local park, dependant on the weather

3.45pm – Arrive home for afternoon snack. This is normally a daily piece of fruit.

4.00pm – Daily craft activity – Quiet time for older children to do their homework – singing and music – Social time – Free play

Enjoying the Sunshine !          Muddy Boots !                Time to Dig !

I have a safe and secure garden, which has a main gate at the front which is bolted. There is a second gate to secure the garden area further which is also latched and bolted. We have lots of outdoor play equipment. There is a swing, climbing frame and playhouse. We have some bikes and ride on toys for younger children. Whenever possible we have free access to the garden to ensure the children have the freedom of choosing their own environments.
